As a reminder, smoking is prohibited in all enclosed and covered areas that are open to the public or constitute workplaces. The employer has an obligation to display visible signage reminding people of the smoking ban in the workplace.
A ministerial decree issued at the end of July 2025 reinforced and extended the ban on smoking in certain public places and, above all, specified new signage models to be used in places where smoking is prohibited and in areas designated for smokers, including workplaces.
In order to comply with these new requirements, we recommend that you download the new signage templates here and display them on your premises without delay.
If this the non-smoking signage is already included in your mandatory postings posted on your premises, they should be updated.
In addition, please note that the new appropriate signage must also be displayed at the entrance to areas designated for smokers.
The templates must be reproduced as they are and may not be modified in any way. There are specifications imposed in terms of support, size and color.
Finally, please note that prevention of factors that encourage smoking and vaping can also be included in your Unique Document of Professional Risks Assessment (“DUERP”).
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you require our assistance in understanding and/or complying to these new rules.
